The next morning we have a tour scheduled for 10 am at Caltech's Palomar Observatory, which is home to the famous 200-inch-diameter Hale Telescope. The observatory is 2 miles from our campsite. Spend the rest of the day in camp or on the trails. That evening after dinner we will have a Star Party and use our newly acquired knowledge while observing the sky. Sunday we return to La Canada, arriving around 1 pm. Scouts can earn the Astronomy merit badge if they prepare by reading the merit badge pampthlet and completing the workbook.
