We need help on the LCF Rose Parade Float - specifically, setting up for Deco Week on Dec. 23 at the corner of Hampstead and Foothill Blvd in LCF. It is a great chance to meet people around the Float, get lunch and get community service hours if you need them. For ages 15+ (14+ if accompanied by an adult) and parents will need to sign a waiver beforehand.

Join us for an evening hike in Cherry Canyon behind Descanso Gardens. We will meet in Memorial Park in La Cañada just after dark and hikers will be shuttled up to the trailhead. We will hike about three miles back to Memorial Park where we will finish up the night with cocoa and treats.
The full moon rises that night at 4:26 pm, so flashlights won't really be needed on the trail (but bring them anyway!). Civil twilight, aka dark for all practical purposes, is at 5:16 pm, so by the time we get hiking around 5:45 pm, it should be awesome!
We will need parents willing to shuttle hikers up the mountain. It's about a 10' ride each way and we would ask you to do a couple of runs as needed. If you can shuttle but still want to hike, we'll put you in one of the last shuttles going up.
We also need some adults to help check in hikers and set up the refreshments in the park. While someone needs to be in the park at all time, most on this team can return at 7:30 to prepare. We'll ask the refreshments team to coordinate this. If people can bring lanterns, it will help make this easier for everyone.

This year, Dr. Joe Puglia will again organize the memorial day remembrance ceremony as a digital version this year. The contributions are mainly individuals performing music or readings. Dr Joe has recommendations for you. And since we can do cohort activities now, this might be part of an outdoor and properly distanced event as a cohort. Perhaps at the peak of a hike with a majestic view, and the cohort paying their respects while in formation (double arm spacing) and in uniform. It can be as simple as a single picture. Just one idea of many that could work. Joe and Mr. McArthur can help brainstorm additional ideas.
Please contact Mr. McArthur if you would like to participate.
For more information go to last year's video.
Please join our weekly meeting on Monday to hear from a JPL speaker.
This event will be done following COVID restrictions. Contact your individual Cohort leaders for details and plans.
